| Umetnička biografija | Ana Kala (Ana Kalacanovic) was born in Belgrade, Serbia in 1977. In 1996, Ana moved to the United States to study Fine Arts at The Montgomery College in Houston, where she had the privilege to be mentored by respected art professors Carlos Mario Landa and Tommy Fitzpatrick. Only two years later, due to extraordinary talent and dedication that Ana had shown, she was the first student to hold a one woman exhibit under the School’s auspices. Her very first two works were awarded and included into The Montgomery’s collection of art works. Ana continued her education in Purchase, New York, where she studied Visual Arts at the State University of New York, under the mentorship of Professor George Parrino. In 2001, Ana returns to her home country of Serbia where she worked on large canvases and crafted her own authentic style. She held numerous shows in Belgrade that were both highly successful and highly acclaimed. Ana currently lives and works in Belgrade. |
| O svom radu | "Paintings by Ana Kala are exemplary to meta-artistic substantiality creatively motivated with use of paint and canvas. The surface drenched in streams of colored paste. There’s no trace of brushstrokes. Kala as a painter stands b e f o r e her colleague from the 18th century, Tiepolo. Kala’s artistic “yes” is pronounced before what still “i s n o t”, still not recognizable… Pollock proved that in painting nothing is interesting except the t e n d e n c y toward it. Kala feels only hunger for painting. " (Đorđe Kadijević) |
